Silent Witness returned to BBC One last week on January 8 at 9pm and will be continuing to keep audiences glued to their seats over the coming weeks. Silent Witness series one was broadcast way back in 1996 and has been going strong ever since then. Silent Witness is now into its 22nd series with a brand new set of stories for fans to get stuck into. Silent Witness will see the main cast reprising their roles including Emilia Fox, Liz Carr, David Caves and Richard Lintern as they investigate various crimes. Where is Silent Witness set?
Silent Witness series 22 is once again set in London, United Kingdom.
Since the show first began, London and other towns and cities across England have been home to a horrific crime in Silent Witness.
Speaking to the Radio Times, Richard Lintern, who plays Dr Thomas Chamberlain, said the new season will be set mainly in London.
He said: “I think there was a conscious decision taken on this particular series of Silent Witness to focus on London, to bring London more in as a character than it’s been before.
“And I think that’s coincidental with the advent of drone photography which has allowed you aerial access to cities in a much cheaper and more cost efficient way than it used to be.”
Where is Silent Witness filmed?
Silent Witness is filmed in London. mainly at a studio situated in West Acton, North-West London.
Parts of the drama are also filmed outside of the studio across numerous locations in London.

Last series, some of the filming took place in the Home Counties which are Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent and Sussex, so it is possible some filming for series 22 took place there.
Originally, the series was filmed in Cambridge before moving to London in 1999.
In summer 2018, news outlet The Argus reported that filming was taking place in Brighton ahead of season 22.
The publication revealed that Gold Coast Jewellers in Brighton was temporarily turned into a tattoo parlour.
Barry Tuck, the owner of the shop in Brighton Square, told The Argus: “It was the production team’s original plan to use the shop next door, but then we took on the challenge.
“It’s really good fun and it’s great to support the film industry and I hope it attracts a lot of attention.”
Chesam Place in Brighton was also used as a scene where the team are looking for a dead body in the upcoming series.
What will happen in Silent Witness?
Silent Witness will see the Lyell unit, a team of forensic pathologists, investigate more horrific crimes being committed across London.
There will be five stories in season 22 of Silent Witness, each told across two episodes.
Episodes will air every Monday and Tuesday thereafter.
The synopsis for episodes one and two read: “When a trans man is murdered and a trans activist is kidnapped, the cases are deemed to be linked.
“But when the DCI releases a suspect prematurely and incriminating evidence comes to light, he tries to blame the Lyell for the oversight.
“Thomas (Richard Lintern) bears the brunt of the pressure as he volunteers to take the fall – and focuses the team on the search for the perpetrator.”
Silent Witness airs on BBC One on Mondays & Tuesdays at 9pm
