Emmerdale’s Michelle Hardwick reveals details of elaborate marriage proposal

Michelle Hardwick has spilled all the details of her elaborate proposal to fiancée Kate Brooks.

The Emmerdale actress, who plays Vanessa Woodfield in the soap, proposed to Kate on December 8, but few details about the proposal have been released except for a few adorable photos.

But Michelle revealed to the Loose Women panel exactly how she did it – and boy, was there a lot of work involved.

Michelle did tell some fibs in order to get things going, and had a few school mates pretending to be bystanders at a cinema, which she had told Kate would be showing The Greatest Showman for them both to watch as they love the music.

She spoke to the Loose Women panel

There is no date for the wedding at the moment

Of course, things were not as they seemed.

She told the panel: “I hired out a small local cinema and I said, ‘Ooh, keep that date free, my agent’s said there’s a special screening of The Greatest Showman… we got there and a couple of my school friends were there dotted with their families and my brother drove us with my niece and nephew – he was in on it.

“What I’d done was hired a flashmob of The Greatest Showman, They started singing and after they sang A Million Dreams, which is one of our favourites, one of the performers gave me the mic and I just said, ‘So, Kate, you’re not here to see a film. I’ve got you here for another reason so can you join me on stage.’

“And I just said, ‘I’m gonna ask you a question but before I ask, someone else is going to help me,’ and our little cavapoo, Fred, was at the back wearing jumper saying, ‘Mummy, please say yes.'”

The panel of Ruth Langsford, Stacey Solomon, Nadia Sawalha and Coleen Nolan were amazed by the proposal, as Michelle added: “All I could think of was, ‘Fred’s at the back, if he starts barking now she’s gonna hear it!'”

The pair started dating two years ago after meeting on Emmerdale, where they both work.

When asked why she organised such an elaborate engagement and their plans for the wedding, she said: “I just wanted something different, we discussed it and we’re not going to do a big wedding, just go abroad just the two of us and have a big party afterwards.”

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
